Fifteen Years
of Real Solutions.
Brand owner, product formulator, and industry expert. Andy Archer has seen the fuel additive market from every angle, from how products are developed to how they are sold and what they actually do in the real world.
Most people in this industry sit on one side of the fence. They either sell products or they comment on them. Andy Archer has done both and everything in between.
As a multiple brand owner and founder, he has been directly involved in developing fuel treatments, oil additives, and emissions products from the ground up. That means working with specialist chemists, understanding base chemistry and formulation trade-offs, and making decisions about what goes into a product and why. Not just reviewing products, but building them.
At the same time, he has spent years on the other end of those products: diagnosing why something isn't working, advising fleet operators with real operational pressures and assisting thousands of drivers who have been let down by oversold solutions.
I don't care whose products you buy, just make sure you know what you're putting in your vehicle.
That full picture is what this site is built on. When Andy writes about a DPF cleaner, a cetane improver, or a lubrication additive, he is drawing on knowledge of the formulation, the chemistry, the market positioning, and the real-world results. He knows where the marketing ends and where the evidence begins.
He founded FuelTechExperts in 2011 to bring a diagnostic approach to fuel and emissions advice. The problem he kept seeing was the same one he still sees: Garages replacing expensive parts for new ones when they are easily cleaned, and customers being sold cleaners when they don't need them, or for problems they cannot solve. It is important to know what you are putting in your vehicle and why.
Diagnose first
A warning light is not a diagnosis. Use a code reader, confirm the actual fault, and understand the root cause before buying anything or replacing parts.
Honest about limitations
Additives and cleaners are tools. They work well in the right situation. They won't fix a mechanical fault or a failed sensor, and I'll tell you which is which.
Root causes, not symptoms
A DPF that keeps blocking is telling you something. Fix the underlying cause, injectors, EGR, driving patterns, oil quality, and the DPF problem usually goes with it.
Transparency over sales
I don't care whose products you buy, just make sure you know what you're putting in your vehicle and why. Education matters more than any individual sale.
The Timeline
Building the Foundation
Years working directly with vehicles, fleets, and emissions problems before founding a business. Learned early that real-world diagnostic experience separates useful advice from guesswork.
Founded Fuel Tech Experts
Established Fuel Tech Experts to provide practical, results-driven fuel and emissions solutions. The focus from day one: fix root causes, not symptoms, and avoid recommending part replacements that aren't needed.
Developing Archoil, OilSyn & Powerenhancer
Working closely with specialist chemical companies, formulators, and engineers to develop and assess fuel and oil treatments. Products are evaluated against field results, not just marketing claims.
Fleet & Diagnostic Support
Advising fleet operators on cost-effective ways to keep vehicles on the road and emissions systems healthy. Regular work on repeat DPF blockages, poor fuel economy, rough running, and warning lights that garages struggle to resolve.
Writing & Education
Using this platform to help drivers understand what warning lights actually mean, how to diagnose before spending money, and when a fuel treatment genuinely helps versus when it won't.
What Andy Deals With
DPF Blockages
Repeat blockages, failed regeneration, and misdiagnosed DPF faults. Finding the root cause before reaching for a cleaner.
Emissions Faults
EGR valves, pressure differential sensors, fault codes that don't tell the full story. Systematic diagnosis of the whole emissions system.
Fuel System Health
Injector condition, fuel quality, detergent chemistry, and how it all affects combustion quality, soot production, and DPF longevity.
Fleet Advice
Cost-effective solutions for fleets where reliability matters and downtime costs money. Practical guidance on treatments and test protocols.
Additive Assessment
Cutting through marketing claims to work out what a fuel or oil treatment will actually do in a given situation, and when it won't.
Drivability Problems
Rough running, hesitation, poor economy, warning lights. Problems that need a systematic approach rather than replacing parts at random.
